As of June 1 of this year we at Lubricar/Jiffy Lube have
changed our featured oils to Kendall products.
Keep in mind that Kendall is one of the brands owned by Phillips 66 and
has been around since 1881. One of the
reasons we went back to Phillips 66/Conoco/Kendall products that we used to
feature several years ago is because of their product lineup. In gasoline's and in motor oils we speak of
“good, better, best” or in
other words, having a product lineup that offers
choices in quality and pricing. Most oil
companies market a conventional oil with no synthetic properties, a synthetic
blend which combines synthetic oil with conventional oil and then a full
synthetic oil. Full synthetic is typically
going to be the best oil you can buy but also the priciest. Conventional oils are always the least
expensive.Phillips 66 likes to say “our good just got better.” By that, they mean that their “conventional” oil isn't conventional at all but a synthetic blend. So their “good” entry is actually what others sell as the “better” offering. What this means is that we can offer a synthetic blend oil for what others charge for the conventional oil. Not bad, huh? We think this is really a big “win-win” for our customers – better quality, same price. Here is a real life experience of how Kendall can save our customers money:
So I took my wife’s Toyota in for an oil change today at our
store on 528 here on the Westside. She
doesn't put a lot of miles on it so it was due for only its second oil
change. The owner’s manual calls for
0W-20 motor oil. Fair enough. But the only 0W-20 motor oil used to be full
synthetic only. It was a $40 upcharge
last time. But today, we were able to
use Kendall 0W-20 Synthetic Blend (with Liquid Titanium, baby!). Now, there is still an upcharge, but it was
$15 rather than $40. I have no doubt as
more vehicles call for and use 0W-20, and it becomes available in bulk instead
of exclusively in bottles, the upcharge will eventually disappear.
