In addition to changing your oil and oil filter regularly, it is important to check your oil level with the dipstick every time you fill up with gas. Air Filter Maintenance Tips for Summer

Did you know a dirty air filter can severely decrease the performance of your vehicle and lower your gas mileage? Just like you and me, your vehicle needs to breathe. However, the air quality outside is not always the greatest. Your vehicle filters the airflow to your engine through the engine air filter. Over time, the filter gets dirty and clogged. When this happens, your engine struggles to breathe, which decreases performance and lowers your vehicles fuel efficiency by up to 14 percent. See your owner’s manual for how often your air filter should be checked and replaced.

Lubricar Jiffy Lube centers will inspect your air filter as part of The Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change. A dirty/clogged air filter will be replaced upon request. Lubricar Jiffy Lube centers will help your vehicle breathe with ease.

Maintenance Reminder: Serpentine Belt Replacement

The serpentine belt is the key that keeps your car running. The belt transfers the power from your engine to other vital components of your car, including the alternator, water pump, power steering pump and the air conditioner compressor. Over time, the serpentine belt becomes worn, cracked and can break and fall off while you are driving. If this happens, your car will only continue to work for a few minutes before it breaks down. Make sure to have your serpentine belt checked and replaced regularly to keep your car on the road, not on the side of the road.

Maintenance Reminder: Fuel System Cleaning Service

Our Fuel System Cleaning Service will help dislodge and remove deposits of dirt and varnish on intake valves and cylinder heads—the very places you need to keep clean in your fuel system. The end result is a cleaner fuel system.

Every time a vehicle’s driver presses the gas pedal, they are controlling how much fuel and air the engine takes in. The pedal tells the throttle valve how much air to let in and the computer tells the fuel system how much fuel to deliver. These calculated amounts of air and fuel are typically mixed together before being sucked into the combustion chamber of an engine cylinder. There the spark plug ignites the mixture, producing the controlled burn that powers the vehicle.
