Catalytic converter theft is increasing exponentially in New Mexico. Thieves will cut easily assessable “cats” off the underside of vehicles. Often, victims won’t realize until later.
In partnership with law enforcement, Jiffy Lube is offering this service, at no charge. A Jiffy Lube technician will first paint a stripe in a bright, high temp paint on the catalytic converter. Then, they will engrave your vehicle’s full VIN over the paint stripe. The hope is that this will deter thieves from stealing your catalytic converter as it will be easier to track them and help law enforcement to prosecute.
